Air Formation hail from Sussex in the south of England. The band has been creating uplifting song based space-rock since late 1999. Born out of a love for ‘Flying Saucer Attack’ and the likes of ‘Spacemen 3’ & ‘The Jesus and Mary Chain’ Air Formation create songs awash with heavily delayed guitar and feedback, interwoven with keyboard drones and whispered vocals. Over the past 7 years the band has released two albums ‘Ends in Light’ (Drive-In Records 2002) & ‘Stay Inside/ Feel Everything’ (Clairecords 2004,) alongside numerous other releases. The turning point for the band came in 2005 when they recorded the beautiful ‘57 Octaves Below’ EP with legendary producer Pat Collier (The House of Love). As well as being their first recording with an expanded line up it was also their first release on UK label ‘Club AC30’ and was extremely well received….. “57 Octaves Below' is simply astonishing, as each track could hold its own as a formal "A side" among any peers both past and present. Remarkable. 9/10” Drowned In Sound. In the summer of 2006 the band returned to Pat Collier and recorded the new album ‘Daylight Storms’. Αρκούσε μόνο το "Adrift" με τα αέρινα φωνητικά για να ξεκινήσω να αναζητώ το δίσκο (πρώτα ακούω τα πιο πρόσφατα και μετά τα προηγούμενα). Και εκεί που άρχισα να αναρωτιέμαι αν άξιζε τον κόπο κατεβάζω και το "Cold morning" και διαπιστώνω ότι δεν είναι μόνο το ένα τραγούδι πανέμορφο [Αν και καμιά φορά καθυστερώ να κατεβάσω τα τραγούδια που προσφέρεις (για να μη γεμίζω το δίσκο, όταν δεν έχω όρεξη να ακούσω και άλλες (πόσες αντέχονται καθημερινά;) φρέσκες μουσικές. Προτάσεις από παντού!), διαβάζω πάντα το κείμενο που τα συνοδεύει.]! Ο δίσκος είναι πραγματίκ καψουρευτικός (όπως θα έλεγε και ο Γιάννης Σημαντήρας).
7 χρόνια στη δισκογραφία και τους αγνοούσα; Ντροπή μου. Εντάξει, δεν συμβαίνει, εξάλλου πρώτη φορά. Κλείνουν θέση (και δίπλα σε παράθυρο. Που σημαίνει πολύ ψηλά!) για τα καλύτερα της χρονιάς. Απίστευτο τι μπορεί κάποιος να συναντήσει στις μέρες μας. Συγχαρητήρια για ακόμα μία φορά. Ίσως τελικά να το προσπερνούσα (παρ' όλο που και το drownedinsound το είχε ξεχωρίσει. Τελικά ποιο απ' όλα τα site να εμπιστευτείς;)
ΥΓ. Τα EΡ επιφυλάσσομαι ότι θα τα κατεβάσω σύντομα. Τι να σου κάνει και η απλή σύνδεση;
Εχώ δυστυχώς έχω απογοητευτεί πολύ με το Pitchfork και προτιμώ το Stylus ή το Drownedinsound ( εκτός βέβαια απο τα άπειρα blogs)
Και να σκεφτείς οτι προσπαθώ να μην ανεβάζω πολλά :)
